Undercliff & Kipling Gardens Rottingdean Circular (Self-Guided)
A varied coastal and countryside walk from Brighton Marina to Rottingdean and back, combining sea views, village paths, and open Downs. It’s a self-guided community walk — we’ll meet up and follow the route together using AllTrails (no guide or leader).
What to expect
The walk begins along the Undercliff path — a flat, easy coastal route beneath the white chalk cliffs, with the sea on one side and rock formations on the other.
From there, the route heads into Rottingdean, passing through Kipling Gardens and the village, before climbing up onto the Downs for wider views across the coastline and surrounding hills.
It’s a nice mix of coastal walking, a village stop, and a few gentle climbs inland. We’ll keep a relaxed, social pace with time to stop along the way.

This is a relaxed, self-guided group walk with no guide or leader. We’ll meet at the start and follow the route together using AllTrails. Please make sure you can access the route on your phone. Everyone is responsible for themselves, while also looking out for each other along the way.
Good to know
The Undercliff section is flat and easy, but the return includes some hills. Coastal conditions can vary — waves may reach the path in rough weather. Paths inland can be uneven in places.
Final note
A great mix of sea views, village stops, and open Downs — an easy way to spend a few hours outdoors.
