Join us for a scenic coastal and countryside walk along the Undercliff path, through Rottingdean village, and up onto the South Downs.

This is a self-guided community walk – we’ll meet up and follow the route together using AllTrails (no guide or leader).

Join us for a beautiful countryside walk exploring Lewes, Offham, and the surrounding South Downs.


We’ll follow a scenic circular route that combines riverside paths along the River Ouse with open countryside, woodland, and gentle hills. Expect a lovely mix of landscapes, with wide views across the Downs and peaceful stretches through farmland and nature.


Along the way, we’ll pass through the village of Offham and enjoy a relaxed pace with time to take in the surroundings or stop for a short break.

Meeting point: Lewes Train Station

How to get there:

Easy train access from Brighton (around 15 mins)


Distance: ~8–9 km

Duration: Around 2–3 hours at a relaxed pace

Terrain: Riverside paths, woodland tracks, farmland, and some hills

Difficulty: Moderate

Comfortable walking shoes (can be muddy in places)

Good to know

This route includes active farmland, so you may encounter livestock — dogs should be kept on a lead

Some sections can be uneven or muddy, especially after rain

This is a community-led adventure – no official guide, just a shared route we’ll follow together. Please make sure you can navigate the route on your phone (via AllTrails). Everyone looks out for each other, making it both safe and fun.

A great mix of town, river, and countryside — perfect for a relaxed and social walk just outside Brighton 🌿
